first baby pictures

The baby is right in the middle of the ultrasound in a black bubble. The head is on the right.

Nate took this picture of my growing belly on Sunday. :)

I went in for my first appointment/ultrasound yesterday. I am seeing this English speaking Chinese doctor. He is very nice and his English is excellent. Prenatal care in China is so different than in America. This was my first appointment, and the only thing he did was an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy. No blood tests, no urine tests, didn't weigh me, etc. etc. He said everything looked good though. I am about 10 weeks pregnant, and the baby is 3 cm. long. I have a Canadian friend here who is a registered nurse and will be helping me throughout the whole pregnancy and delivery. I am so thankful for her. She was pleased with this doctor. Nate wasn't able to come in with me for the ultrasound, because there were other ladies in the same room getting exams and they weren't completely decent. :) The doctor walked me into the ultrasound room, and I waited for the lady in front of me to finish. As soon as she was done and stood up, I laid right down on the table and the technician started my ultrasound, which lasted only about 3 min. As soon as I stood up, the next person was there ready to have hers. There are so many people in China, that everything is done one person right after the other. Most ladies at the hospital wanting to see the doctor, get a number when they get to the hospital, and just have to wait in line until their number is called (think of a deli sandwich line in America). The hospital reminded me of an old school. The rooms were just cement blocks with curtains hanging on the windows, and dividers between rooms. I will try to remember to get a picture next time I go. I am looking into going to a private hospital, I just don't have any information about that yet. There are three public women and children hospitals in town and a few private ones. We would appreciate your pr*yers as we decide which hospital to deliver at.
